In the modern society , the term “ meditation “ has become very popular by some so called spiritualists. The main objective of meditating one’s mind is to resolve problems that previously evoked strong emotional and physiological reactions.However, meditating in a bona fide way can give us utmost supreme bliss.

Three different types of spiritual meditation has been described in this book, namely: The Viodists, The Impersonalists and The Personalists.Viodists: The Viodists teach that ultimately there is no soul and by practising this type of meditation ‘Nirvana’ is achieved i.e the state of merging into nothingness! Thus experiencing ultimate bliss.This concept of understanding is clueless and illogical, if the identity of the Soul is merged or lost then who is going to experience Nirvana? The underlying concept is that the self and the universe could have arisen from nothing. A nothing that produces something can’t be nothing.Impersonalists: The Impersonalists hold that through meditation it is understood the spiritual existence is an illusion. Impersonalists are not like the Viodists. The ultimate goal in this type of meditation is to become one with the God. For them, God exists but not as person. God exists as an impersonal effulgence – ‘Brahma Jyot’ or a white light. They like the idea of Nirvana but instead of merging into nothingness one desires to merge into an impersonal absolute because they think that they have been exploited by ‘Avidya’ but in reality Soul and God is the same. All is one. Now this is also illogical. If we are all God then how we got into the mess of Maya that we cannot find our true self ? We can never become God and if ultimately everything is One then where did the ignorance that covers the self’s identity of God come from? The ignorance ( Avidya) is different to from God then how can everything be ONE?

Personalists: The Personalists meditate on the Name , form, activities and pastimes of the Supreme Lord and which is Nirvana for them which is logical. As we have a form its hard for us to meditate on something which is impersonal or formless. The personalists see the self as the eternal lover of the ultimate beloved Krsna, The Supreme Personality of Godhead.Hence, this book is for those who are looking forward to see a spiritual aspect in their lives and are interested in spiritual upliftment.
